It took weeks for Ashley and I to decide where to go for Restaurant Week this year, and it was one of the most difficult decisions ever. What are two girls supposed to do when surrounded by choices like Jaleo, Bibiana, Jackson 20, and Zaytinya??
But we made the right choice, because Casa Nonna was amazing. Where else could we have found canteloupe soda with mint?
But first things first.
The ricotta cheese was creamy and rich, but the eggplant tapenade stole the show from the rest of the platter. I don't even like eggplant, but this tapenade was full of so much flavor that we ended up eating it with forks.
This was actually the first thing we had, but we ate the first plate so quickly and completely forgot to take a picture. Tomorrow I shall be combing the internet for a recipe for this because it was something that a girl could make for dinner all by itself! So yummy and full of cheese and absolutely delightful!
Tortellini. With ricotta cheese inside and little green peas and a little bit of tomato sauce. I had no idea peas and tortellini go so beautifully together!
Chicken Parmigiana. The chicken was just the right bit of crunchy with the most amazing cheese topping ever atop of a bed of spinach.
And cannoli! I'd never had cannoli before, but last weekend Ashley and I watched the Godfather and since one of the mafia men wearing a fedora and a pinstriped suit cared so deeply about leaving the gun behind but not forgetting the cannoli I simply had it dry it. This cannoli had pistachio crumbles and the most amazing chocolate sauce. We have to go back to Casa Nonna soon, because I've read so much about the granitas, so expect an update soon!
