Once a very wise friend and I discussed how some people buy books because they just love the books so much it makes them happy to see them on their shelves. I can totally sympathize with this because books are such a happy investment. When you buy a book it could mean many things. Maybe it has the ability to reflect something you love about yourself. Maybe it has changed your life in some profound way. Or maybe you just adore it for its beauty. That last reason is not shallow, in fact it is very important because I do believe books should be pretty. And Mrs. Kennedy Goes Abroad is one of the latter, which are my favorite kinds of books. I think it may be because the time of picture books is such a small portion of our lives, so a good picture book seems very decadent in a way. Anyway, this cute book is filled with the most charming illustrations of Mrs. Kennedy, well, going abroad, and is perfect for a cloudy day when you don't really want to think about big and important things and prefer to be charmed by the little pretty things in life.
