andy warhol and the honeybees

The other lovely museum we visited in Cincinnati is the Cincinnati Art Museum. This was our second time visiting, and since the camera was left in the car this time, here are the pictures from the November visit.

Serendipitously it was the week of the let's-make-floral-recreations-of-our-favorite-artworks and the place was crawling with cute little old ladies oohing and aahing over some of the craziest floral arrangements that I have ever seen. Some of the contestants had such a hard time choosing one piece of art that they would recreate whole rooms. I suppose that does help to narrow down the competition. Still, my favorite was the clever interpretation of Andy Warhol's Pete Rose portrait. The museum is filled to the brim with an eclectic mixture of art and items ranging from Ancient Egyptian mummies (I don't have a picture because its not nice to take pictures of the dead people) and Monet and Picasso and Calder!

The art museum is located in this lovely little area of Cincinnati that is called Eden Park, and there's a beautiful gazebo and little lake area and there are people running and walking and even riding crazy segways which made me laugh. It is so very pretty, and definitely worth a visit!

I am still glad someone did roses for Pete Rose. It's so literal that it's perfect.
